Research Article

The Ankara University Journal of the Faculty of Languages and History-Geography (DTCF Journal) is an international, scholarly, and blind-reviewed journal published by Ankara University’s Faculty of Languages and History-Geography. The journal aims to increase and extend scholarly studies which will contribute to the scientific development in the fields of social sciences and humanities.

The Journal includes articles in all fields of social sciences, particularly language, culture, literature, history, geography, philosophy, psychology and sociology.

All material to be considered for publication in The Journal of the Faculty of Languages and History-Geography (DTCF Journal), before submission and blind review, should be prepared in accordance with the instructions below:
1. Texts should be in Turkish or in English.
2. Texts submitted to the Journal should not have been previously published elsewhere and should not have been submitted to another journal for publication.
3. Texts not prepared in accordance with the Journal’s style guide are not evaluated for publication.
4. Texts submitted to the Journal should comply with the following;
a) All texts should be typed on a standard A4 vertical size word document with margins of 2.5 cm on all margins.
b) Texts should be no less than 4000 and no more than 15000 words in length, excluding the abstract and references pages. The text should be written in Bookman Old Style 11 point font with 1.5 line spacing and justified on Microsoft Word.

The layout of the main text should be as follows:
Text size: 11 pt
Footnotes size: 9 pt
Paragraph spacing: 6 nk
Paragraph indent: 1 cm
Line spacing: 1,5

The APA 6 format (American Psychological Association) should be followed in references, in-text citations and bibliography. However, title of a Turkish work and article should be written in accordance with the spelling of the Turkish Language Association.

Texts should include the following parts in the order as stated below, and should be structured according to the following instructions:

Title: The title of the text should be centred and written in UPPERCASE with 12 point font, bold type.
Title in Turkish: The title in Turkish, placed after the English title, should be centred and written in 12 point font, bold type. The first letter of each word should be capitalized.
Author / Authors: The title should be followed by the author’s name (in lowercase with the first letter capitalized) and last name (in UPPERCASE LETTERS) which should be left-aligned and written in 12 point font, bold type. This should be followed by information about the author (academic position, institution and author's email address). Also, the photograph of the author(s) in high resolution should be uploaded on the system and the "ORCID" number(s) of the author(s) should be given.
Abstract (in English): The abstract in English should be single-spaced and written in 10 point font, italic type. The abstract should be no less than 200 words and no more than 300 words.
Keywords (in English): A minimum of 4 and a maximum of 8 keywords which identify the content of the work should be presented and written in 10 point font. The first letter of each keyword should be capitalized, and each keyword must be separated by a semicolon and written in italic type.
Öz (Abstract in Turkish): The text given in the English abstract should be written in Turkish in italic type.
Anahtar Sözcükler (Keywords in Turkish): Keywords in English should be given with the same rules in Turkish and written in 10 point font.

Text
Introduction
The research problem and goals of the text are discussed with the body of literature and the theoretical framework of the study is revealed.
Titles
The whole title should be written in uppercase and bold type.
Subheadings
All the subheadings should be written in bold type, the initial of each word should be capitalized, and after the subheading, an indent should follow.
Conclusion
Conclusion(s) reached in the light of the findings should be explained.
Bibliography
In-text citations and references should be given in accordance with the grammatical structure of the language of the text. The principles of Turkish references for Turkish texts and English references for English texts should be taken into account.

At the end of the article, an English summary with 700-1000 words should be written.
The summary will provide preliminary information about the essence of the article for researchers browsing international databases at home and abroad and will make the article get more international citations. The purpose and theoretical framework of the article should be specified in the summary. The method, results, discussion and conclusion should be clearly given. The summary should be single-spaced and written in 10 point font.

For Applied Research, the following parts should also be included in the article:
Introduction: The basis of the research subject, summary of the parts of the study, its relevance to academic body of literature, significance of the study, research problem and its goals should be discussed in detail in the introductory part. This part can be structured under a single title or several subheadings. No bold or underlined phrases should be used in the text.
Method: The type, model, questions and hypotheses, research population, data collection techniques, validity and reliability, data analysis, limits of the study, and ethics committee approval (if necessary) should be included in the methods part. This part can be structured in subheadings like Research Problems, Research Model, Hypotheses, Data Analysis, and Data Collection Techniques.
Results: The results of the study should be explained to support the goal and problem of the study, and should be explored through related tables, figures, graphs, or diagrams in a way to preserve the integrity of the study. All the tables, figures, graphs, or diagrams used in the study should be clearly signposted by in-text directions. The results in the form of graphs or figures should be presented in high-quality in order to ensure publication quality and legibility. Findings demonstrated in tables should be presented in a format in accordance with the APA Guidelines. All the tables, graphs, figures, and diagrams used in the study should be titled. The results can be presented under subheadings in order to increase the legibility and clarity of the study.
Conclusion: Conclusion(s) reached in the light of the findings of the study should be explained.
Suggestions: In line with the conclusion(s) of the study, suggestions should be developed. These suggestions should also point to potential future studies and practices in the field which will contribute to the relevant academic body of literature.
Acknowledgements: Individuals or institutions that contributed to the study (if necessary) should be acknowledged in the form of footnotes.

1. Appendix: Additional tables, figures, graphics and pictures should be given in a new page after the Bibliography. Each appendix should be listed as Appendix 1 Appendix 2 and titled separately. If there is an item used in appendix, directions towards this item should be given in the text.
2. Subheadings in texts should be written in lowercase with the first letter capitalized and in 11 point font.
3. All citations and sources used in texts should be indicated. Short quotations should be italicized in quotation marks (“…”). Long quotations (more than 40 words) should be written on a new line without quotation marks in 10 point font, non- italicized and indented 2 cm from each margin (left and right). Then, a full stop should follow.
4. If visual materials such as photo and diagram are used, sources should be indicated. Author(s) are held legally responsible for permission or copyright.
5. After evaluation processes of texts have been completed, (except suggestions of reviewers) author(s) cannot make any major changes (such as adding a chapter, paragraph, table, picture, graphic, or another author's name).

Declaration of Publication Ethics
All parties involved in the publishing process (authors, Editorial Board and reviewers) must make decisions in accordance with ethical standards of behaviour. The Journal of the Faculty of Language and History-Geography expects all parties to comply with these standards. The best standards for publication ethics are encouraged, and all possible measures are taken against publication malpractices. As a publisher, the Journal of the Faculty of Language and History-Geography takes the duty of guardianship seriously at all stages of publishing and accepts its ethical and other responsibilities.

International Standards for Authors
The Journal does not request a signed application from all authors of a single manuscript and does not impose peremptory applications on authors. All the manuscripts submitted to the Journal to be published are expected to voluntarily comply with the international standards set by the Committee on Publication Ethics (see https://publicationethics.org/)
The authors have to certify the submitted manuscripts to be their original studies. Plagiarism, fabrication, forgery, duplication, data falsification etc. are prohibited.
Authors should neither give any physical/legal harm to the participants of a research nor psychologically abuse them. Additionally, authors have to give guarantee to the participants of their studies on the right of privacy and anonymity.
Authors should define the persons or institutions sponsoring their research.
Authors should assure that the manuscripts they submit have not been published before and they are not under evaluation in any other journal.
Authors should be aware that all the references used in the manuscript are exactly given in the bibliography of the manuscript.
On realising an important mistake or incorrectness in the article published, the author has to immediately inform the editor/the publisher of the Journal and either withdraw the article from the Journal or cooperate with the editor for correction.
Authors have to inform the Journal about any situation regarding conflict of interest or collaborative interest.

All the manuscripts submitted to the Journal of the Faculty of Language and History-Geography are checked through iThenticate software for plagiarism. Authors absolutely have to abstain from plagiarism, including even self-plagiarism. Manuscripts with a similarity score over 18% except the bibliography are not evaluated.

International Standards for Editorial Board
Editors and members of Editorial Board should adhere to the international standards for editorial boards. The editor and the members of the Editorial Board of the Journal are expected to voluntarily comply with the international standards set by the Committee on Publication Ethics (see https://publicationethics.org/)
The Editorial Board thoroughly checks the submitted manuscripts to determine its publication and to prevent misconducts.
If a misconduct is determined in a manuscript, the relevant author is responsible for withdrawal or correction of the manuscript according to the editor's and reviewer's feedback.
The Editorial Board must keep confidential information regarding all articles submitted.
The Editorial Board is in charge of taking publication decisions about the manuscripts submitted to the Journal.
The Editorial Board has to make efforts to meet the needs of the authors and readers.
The Editorial Board has to make efforts to enhance and improve the quality of the Journal.
The Editorial Board has to put emphasis on scientific quality and genuineness to the utmost.
The Editorial Board has to be always ready for announcing corrections, explanations, withdrawals and apologies when required.

International Standards for Reviewers
On accepting the call from the Journal for blind review, reviewers have to comply with the international blind review standards. All the reviewers of the Journal are expected to voluntarily comply with the international standards set by the Committee on Publication Ethics (see https://publicationethics.org/)
Reviewers have to keep confidential information regarding the manuscripts.
Reviewers have to present to the attention of the Editorial Board any information that may cause the manuscript to be rejected.
Reviewers have to review manuscripts scientifically.
Reviewers also have to review manuscripts objectively by criteria as originality, importance, appropriateness to the fields of the Journal.
In any case of dispute or conflict of interest, reviewers have to inform the Journal about it.

Approval Policy
Authors have to comply with the ethical and legal standards and participants of a study are to be informed with below mentioned conditions:
Participants have to be informed that the manuscript will be a study on them.
Participants have to be informed that participation is voluntary; rejecting to be a participant or departing from the study at any time is not subject to fee or punishment.
Participants have to be informed of the aim of the study and the procedure to be followed.
Participants have to be informed of authors’ contact information for answers to questions about the study.
Participants have to be informed beforehand about any potential risks or discomfort which may affect them when they agree to cooperate.
Participants have to be informed about the potential proximate benefits of participation (i.e. taking a copy of the whole or a part of the manuscript).
Participants have to be informed about how to protect confidentiality.
